Watercolor Artist Selected as Designer’s Choice Winner in Yupo’s Fourth Annual Wally Awards

2007 Wally Awards Seeking Innovative Designs on YUPO® Synthetic Paper

CHESAPEAKE, VA – (March 26, 2007) – Yupo America, the largest manufacturer of synthetic paper in the Western Hemisphere, announces that the results are in for the coveted Designer’s Choice Wally Award. After months of voting by designers and creative professionals, Linda Nadel from Imagine That Studios (Montrose, CO) has been selected as the Designer’s Choice winner for her collection of various watercolor paintings. Yupo America will be accepting new submissions for the fifth annual Wally Awards at the 2007 HOW Design Conference and online at www.wallyawards.com.

The collection of watercolor artworks that Nadel submitted to the Wally Awards program aims to bring vibrancy and depth to a range of everyday subjects, including: a grape still life, waterfall landscape, meeting of strangers, rooster, donkey, and more. Nadel works with a vivid and spontaneous color palette of bright reds, greens, blues, yellows and purples, as well as a darker range of grays, whites, black and browns, to bring the subject matter to life.

100% waterproof, YUPO® synthetic paper offers the artist unique drying properties that make it a perfect match for her artwork. “When painting on yupo, the watercolors are not lost in the paper; they float on top and playfully interact. In addition, when the colors dry on yupo, they are as vivid as they are when wet, which was important to bring my concepts to life,” explains Nadel. “It is also easy to make changes to brush strokes on yupo, which gave me the artistic freedom to try new techniques and color combinations.”

Like other Wally Award winners, Nadel will receive a $1,000 cash prize, a customized Wally Award statue designed by illustrator Bill Mayer, and a $500 gift certificate toward PunchStock photography. Winning submissions are featured on www.yupo.com and www.wallyawards.com.

Entries for the 2007 Wally Awards are currently being accepted. Three winners will be chosen by an independent panel of distinguished industry professionals. A fourth Designer’s Choice winner will be chosen via separate online voting.
